But you can easily capture a bright sunny day with your camera and even increase the intensity of the light source using the lens flare effect in Photoshop. In this basic tutorial, you will learn how to apply the lens flare effect to create radiant images.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>The basic steps<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-basics.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"td-modal-image aligncenter size-large wp-image-10788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-basics.jpg\" alt=\"A screenshot of Adobe Photoshop shows the Filter menu open. To do so, first click the image layer and then the\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\">Filter<\/span> tab in the top menu. Choose\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\">Render<\/span>\u00a0and select\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\">Lens Flare<\/span>. Otherwise the effect will seem unrealistic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 19.5pt; background: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 19.5pt 0cm;\">In the next step, use the Brightness slider to increase or decrease the brightness of the lens flare effect. You can also choose a\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Lens Type<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to simulate the effect. Each lens type produces a different style of the lens flare effect. Just try out the different lens types and choose the one that yields to most realistic result for your image. In this example, we use a brightness value of\u00a0<strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;\">130\u00a0percent<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and a simulated lens of\u00a0<strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;\">35\u00a0mm Prime<\/span><\/strong>. To edit the effect subsequently, you have to create it at a separate layer as follows:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 19.5pt; background: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 19.5pt 0cm;\">Undo the Lens Flare using the shortcut\u00a0<span class=\"shortcut\"><span style=\"background: #F3F3F3;\">Ctrl<\/span><\/span>\u00a0+\u00a0<span class=\"shortcut\"><span style=\"background: #F3F3F3;\">Z<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and add a new\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">blank layer<\/span><\/span>\u00a0using the\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Layers<\/span><\/span> tab. Photoshop won&#8217;t allow us to apply the Lens Flare filter to a blank layer. So we need to fill the layer with black to apply the effect. Choose\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Fill<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and colour the layer.\u00a0Now that the layer is no longer blank, reapply the <span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Lens Flare<\/span><\/span> as earlier.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2: Choose filter and position<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-filter-and-position.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"td-modal-image aligncenter size-large wp-image-10791\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-filter-and-position.jpg\" alt=\"A screenshot of Adobe Photoshop with a new project open. This time, you only see the black area with the lens flare effect instead of your subject. To apply the effect to the original image, click the drop-down menu on the\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Layers<\/span><\/span>\u00a0tab to specify the blend mode and choose\u00a0<span class=\"guideline\"><span style=\"background: #FAEBCC;\">Screen<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4: Apply screen to the layer with the lens flare effect<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-apply-screen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"td-modal-image aligncenter size-large wp-image-10793\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onlineprinters.ie\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/lens-flare-apply-screen.jpg\" alt=\"A screenshot of Adobe Photoshop shows the Layers panel on the right, with the blend mode dropdown menu open and Dissolve selected. Use a second layer to drag and drop the effect to any position using the mouse or to transform it using the shortcut\u00a0<span class=\"shortcut\">Ctrl<\/span>\u00a0+\u00a0<span class=\"shortcut\">T<\/span>.
